Background

John Cena is a professional wrestler who debuted on the WWE main roster in 2002 and has since become one of the company's most popular wrestlers. Since 2005, John Cena's entrance theme has been "The Time Is Now", a song recorded by Cena and his first cousin, Tha Trademarc. In 2012, the Z Morning Zoo podcast on the FM radio station WNVZ did a "phone scam" on an unsuspecting wife where they pretended to be advertising for a WWE pay-per-view event featuring John Cena and repeatedly played "The Time is Now". In the summer of 2015, the Unexpected John Cena meme, which involves editing videos to bait-and-switch into "The Time Is Now" using a clip from the aforementioned phone scam, emerged and achieved mainstream popularity.

"The Time is Now" is a minor meme on SiIvaGunner, and has been featured in a handful of rips. It most notably appeared in the Reboot finale rip, "P-R-O-G-R-A-M (Vagrant Counting Song of Retrospection) - Kirby Planet Robobot", as well as "The Grand Finale - Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story", which would seem to indicate that it was considered a major channel meme at the time despite only having a few appearances. It would later see a small resurgence in appearances after it was claimed as a meme during Season Mine in 2025.
