"super mario 64 but it's in the buddy holly soundfont" is a high quality rip of an arrangement of Super Mario 64 music using the soundfont from "Buddy Holly" by Weezer.

Jokes

"Buddy Holly" does not use soundfonts in its instrumentation, and it would be effectively impossible to convert its instrumentation into a soundfont as it uses live instruments (the soundfont mentioned in the video description, The_Ultimate_Buddy_Holly_Soundfont.sf2, is not a real soundfont). This rip is an arrangement of "Bob-omb Battlefield" from Super Mario 64 using instruments and pitch-shifted vocals from "Buddy Holly" that is intentionally designed to sound like a midiswap, using stilted and inauthentic-sounding samples of "Buddy Holly" instruments and sticking closely to the exact notes of "Bob-omb Battlefield" aside from the drums.

The arrangement incorporates three melody changes: "Meet the Flintstones" at 1:12, likely a reference to "Bob-omb Battlefield (Short ver.) @ Super MAGFest 2018", "Haunted House" at 2:03, and "Flamingo" by Kero Kero Bonito at 2:20.

Description

saw lots of people posting these but interestingly noticed that nobody ever does it the other way around, so please enjoy my contribution to the buddy holly community. if this video gets enough likes i'll consider doing the rest of the soundtrack

EDIT: please stop posting comments asking for the soundfont. it's on google, the file is called "The_Ultimate_Buddy_Holly_Soundfont.sf2"

Trivia

  • The rip's title makes it seem like an inverse of "Buddy Holly by Weezer but in the Mario 64 Soundfont", but the rips themselves use different jokes.
  • The description originally didn't feature the "EDIT:" section. It was added sometime after release of the rip.
  • The fake soundfont title is derived from "The Ultimate Megadrive Soundfont" by TheEighthBit, as it closely matches the naming scheme.
  • The supposed "The_Ultimate_Buddy_Holly_Soundfont.sf2" soundfont was later referenced during The Susie ARG.
