SiIvaGunner Wiki:Moot/Log 2025 May 17
today's schedule
Overcast07 – We should create a "list of characters" which includes all characters who have made speaking or cameo appearances in SiIvaGunner story content (including individual videos that are not connected to the main SiIvaGunner lore). The list should be in the form of a sortable table with the columns "Name", "Origin", "First appearance", "Date [of first appearance]" and "Notes", and should link to other articles that have more information about particular characters.
Overcast07 – To organize various trivia, a "List of records" should be created to list the most-viewed videos, the longest video titles, and so on. The information of User:Pokemonfreak777/List of rips with video titles that are so long they may get cut off by YouTube's 100-character limi should be included in some form.
Mick - Template:MemeNav is not efficient in its current form, sort it by year.
the first topic will be a continuation of the discussion from last moot. also we may not get through everything here, but if we do we will just proceed down the remaining topics listed
overcast07 pinging for availability. if you are ready, you may present your first topic at the top of the hour
We should create a "list of characters" which includes all characters who have made speaking or cameo appearances in SiIvaGunner story content (including individual videos that are not connected to the main SiIvaGunner lore).
The list should be in the form of a sortable table with the columns "Name", "Origin", "First appearance", "Date [of first appearance]" and "Notes", and should link to other articles that have more information about particular characters.
The list of characters should be split into three sections for major characters (those which should have their own articles), minor characters and cameos.
The existing page at "Characters" should be renamed to "Figments" and restructured accordingly, and "Characters" should then be redirected to "List of characters".
I have just updated the text of the proposal based on the last discussion
do you have anything else youd like to add or are you ready for discussion (everyone else can read it as well)
do you have anything else youd like to add or are you ready for discussion (everyone else can read it as well)
I don't have anything to add at the moment but I can clarify the proposal if anyone has questions
seems like a good idea, I also like the idea of repurposing the current characters page into "Figments"
im assuming any character pages that exist right now that we see as minor would be cut right
it’s a bit wishy washy but it makes sense
If people start disputing it, then it can be temporarily/indefinitely changed to be that whichever characters have an article go into the major characters section

so these seem to be the new additions to the proposal. im okay with these changes although im curious if this will also be set as the new precedent for how to structure the other character list pages?
im assuming any character pages that exist right now that we see as minor would be cut right
This list would not cause existing pages to be deleted or redirected (other than the Characters/Figments page). The distinction is for, like, characters who are listed in the four "List of minor characters from…" and this list would link to the sections of that list
If people start disputing it, then it can be temporarily/indefinitely changed to be that whichever characters have an article go into the major characters section
that seems like it could easily be abused i think
someone writes up a quality article on what is (subjectively or not) a minor character and they’re immediately shot up to major

(yes this is specifically referring to purb. i still think purb having a page is a flaw in the system)
I think it could be beneficial in some cases for minor characters to have their own articles if there is no "list of minor characters" or event article where they could be described
I'm not too worried about that personally. I think it's easier to tell if a character in lore has a minor role compared to what does and doesn't count as a channel meme.

should we even have "list of minor characters from x" pages anymore with this system? i feel like we should just have "list of characters from x" pages instead and use this major/minor system proposed here on the pages themselves
It does make sense why there isn’t though
I think it could be beneficial in some cases for minor characters to have their own articles if there is no "list of minor characters" or event article where they could be described
Potential revised proposal
The list of characters should be split into three sections for major characters, minor characters and cameos. The distinction between "major characters" and "minor characters" is loosely defined, but the terms should be used in the same way as on the existing lists of characters.
The “other” section could be used to list images related to them as well if they don’t have their own dedicated article
The “Notes” section of the table could be used to list miscellaneous images related to the character if they don’t have their own dedicated article
the notes section (im assuming) is text based so there wouldnt be space for images
i think images could be put in a gallery somewhere for minor characters? like a minor character with two images would still be minor but a page for it would be overkill and the images would need to go somewhere
I think it would make more sense to have an "image" column
(To be clear, this is not part of the proposal yet, but if other people think this is a good idea then we can ask for it to be included in the moot vote probably?)
Is this character actually part of the story? The existence of someone in the CCC universe wouldn't necessarily meet the criterion that they need to be in a story if it's just the images and nothing else

some of the minor character pages have galleries btw List of minor characters from the King for Another Day Tournament#Gallery
some of the minor character pages have galleries btw List of minor characters from the King for Another Day Tournament#Gallery
but also some dont have a dedicated section List of minor characters from the SilvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis
Yeah probably just include this somewhere lol
The list should also have a gallery section.
What about for major characters that have a lot of images
if anyone else has more to say/ask speak now, otherwise i will begin crafting the vote statement (unless one is ready)
I just think leaving it kind of open ended like that could lead to people making a gallery section of the list for the major characters and putting some images there
I think that would somewhat defeat the point of a gallery page/section for the character page?
I think an idea would be to have a link to that character’s dedicated gallery in that section
Honestly like, if someone wants to do that then I don't really mind?
hmm not sure if thats necessarily a good idea though. i would prefer the images of a character only be on the page of that character, assuming it exists
yeah perhaps. overcast what would you like to vote on for now? anything else we can discuss further at a later date
Since we were originally talking about making this a table, and now we're discussing about adding a gallery section to this list page.

I think the vote can be on the contents of this message, except the third line should be replaced with

Because you guys were talking about deleting the minor character pages once the list has them all

They would just briefly list the major characters as well and link to the articles for the respective characters I imagine

ok this is the current wording of the vote. does this look good?
ok lets vote then

alright overcast you also have the next topic
Overcast07 – To organize various trivia, a "List of records" should be created to list the most-viewed videos, the longest video titles, and so on. The information of User:Pokemonfreak777/List of rips with video titles that are so long they may get cut off by YouTube's 100-character limi should be included in some form.
Basically the point of this is, currently we treat trivia sections as kind of a dumping ground, and we can organize some of the information in those sections in a better way by creating this list
Here is an example of a trivia section we would be able to rationalize Trailer Sting (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix) (Beta Mix 10
All of the articles in that series have been like this for at least the last 2 years
Putting them on a dedicated page would actually allow for some level of maintained accuracy
The "record" in this case is 100 characters, and a lot of rips are tied for that. The list of records can also list runner-ups and such since it is kind of open-ended
im personally indifferent to this. i created that page because people wanted a place for the 100 character cutoff thing and thought that that fact in particular looked ugly and hard to maintain on the pages
the page can be expanded to include other trivia though and made official if people really wanted i guess (hence why its a draft)
I wonder which rip has had the most documented renames. We would probably include stuff like that
i still think that the 100 character thing should be separate though if we do this (mostly cuz i want to keep the page name lol)
i still think that the 100 character thing should be separate though if we do this (mostly cuz i want to keep the page name lol)
If it ends up being a disproportionate amount of the page then we can move the details to a Category:Long titles or something
i mean we have this which i feel would also qualify as trivia for this proposed page Category:Rips with over a million views
In cases like this we would include the most viewed (maybe top 3 or top 10) in the list of records, and then direct people to the category for a longer list
We would have to use 2021 data for that since there is no longer any official dislike count data (except for your own channel)
I think a clairification that it is 2021 data would be nice there if that part of the page is made
i mean we have this which i feel would also qualify as trivia for this proposed page Category:Rips with over a million views
I once tried to add the peak positions of each rip to this (i.e. WANO was once #1, DK Rap Unused was once #4) but i got lazy and didnt finish it. but that could be an idea to bring back
We would have to use 2021 data for that since there is no longer any official dislike count data (except for your own channel)
as far as i'm aware, the siivagunner database actually saved the final dislike count for every applicable video and we can use that, but it continued updating the like count so we can't use it for percentages
i duplicated the spreadsheet a bunch of times so we could use an old revision of it
i made a copy of it on December 30, 2021 which is a few weeks after the cut-off date but maybe close enough
it'd be better to use web archives though, since aidan's spreadsheet doesn't update all the rows at the same time
so currently for this proposed page, we're including trivia about most viewed videos (from proposal), videos with long names (from proposal), and most dislikes (arthur's suggestion)?
if you want the specific sections can be voted on, but I don't think it's necessary since the intent is for people to add more sections afterwards once they have found trivia sections or done research to allow the page to be expanded
well the first two already have the info, and the discussion about the third seems to indicate its possible. i just wanted to clarify about the sections, because again i want to know to what extent we are including trivia
well the first two already have the info, and the discussion about the third seems to indicate its possible. i just wanted to clarify about the sections, because again i want to know to what extent we are including trivia
it is to whatever extent the people who end up editing the page feel like, as long as people think it is reasonable and within the bounds of the wiki's policies and guidelines
cuz some trivia "facts" ive seen on rip pages have been dubious at best and have been brought up and removed eventually. with a page like this i feel like people may add random stuff that should not really be there
well, then whatever policies/guidelines/consensus apply to trivia pages should also be applied to the list as appropriate
also overcast would you like a vote on the individual things included, or just a general vote on the page existing?
If you want you can mention things as examples but I don't think we should mandate whether they are part of the page or not
ok. ill include the things we want to include as examples but the vote overall will be on the existence of the page
We will create a page called "List of records" to organize various trivia. Examples of trivia that can be added include, but are not limited to: most viewed videos, longest video names, most disliked videos, etc.
does this wording work?
ok then. lets vote

mick seems to not be here. if youre ready today, you may present your topic turret.
User:TurretBot - Change the link for the album . from - to ARG album or something similar that makes it more obvious what the link is for in categories and piped links. Display name and default sort will be kept the same.
just so people know what the topic is
I suggest either "ARG album" or "Reboot ARG album", so that when seen in these contexts, it's clear what the link is supposed to be
oh, and just so everyone's on the same page, it isn't possible to have a page named [[.]] which is why the page is like this in the first place
would it suffice to have the page just be called "- (ARG album)" and displayed as ". (ARG album)"?
also (and this is speculatory but) i think it is mildly likely that we eventually get a video named "-" (a rip with no track or game), so this would also be futureproofing
would it suffice to have the page just be called "- (ARG album)" and displayed as ". (ARG album)"?
I think ". (ARG album)" is actually a valid title, since titles can start with a period
would it suffice to have the page just be called "- (ARG album)" and displayed as ". (ARG album)"?
precedent for formatting an album article's title as "album name (description of album)" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weezer_(Blue_Album)
cuz i do see the concern about the current title but completely removing it in favor of a clickable title seems wrong
I think ". (ARG album)" is actually a valid title, since titles can start with a period
I think ". (ARG album)" is actually a valid title, since titles can start with a period
looking at how other albums do it i think it should be ". (album)" as has been mentioned
I'm not really a fan of parentheticals because it just means the page name is never used in articles but if everyone agrees that is better than whatever
looking at how other albums do it i think it should be ". (album)" as has been mentioned
i think . (album) would be fine too. including "ARG" in there is arguably unnecessary and doesn't really give wiki vibes
I'm not really a fan of parentheticals because it just means the page name is never used in articles but if everyone agrees that is better than whatever
if we have to pick one i think ". (album)" makes sense for consistency with existing titles
Renaming it straight up to “ARG album” seems silly
It's also technically ambiguous since The Susie ARG also included an album as part of its steps
ok vote
We will change the link for the album "." (a single period) from its current name of "-" (a single dash) to ". (album)" to make clear what it is and to make it more clickable.
