Nicolas Cage is an American actor, film producer, and meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.
Background
Nicolas Cage has a unique, heightened acting style that is often considered comedic, both intentionally and otherwise. This style has led to Cage's long-lasting popularity as a subject of internet memes and remixes.
On June 23, 2016, YouTuber Criken released a mod for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask in which many textures are replaced with Nicolas Cage's face. The mod was first announced on March 9, 2013 as The Legend of Cage: Beneath the Mask. On July 11, 2016, Vinesauce Vinny streamed a playthrough of the game.
On SiIvaGunner
Nicolas Cage is heavily associated with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on SiIvaGunner. Rips featuring samples of Cage's voice from movies he is featured in have been created for the entire soundtrack of Majora's Mask; the first rip was "Clock Town, First Day (OST Version) - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" by kyokuP, uploaded July 19, 2016. After a dozen rips in the latter half of 2016, the joke was revived by Grambam36 in January 2018, with more rippers regularly contributing since 2021. Since the joke's revival, every rip has used the mix name "OST Version", with most earlier rips later renamed to use the same mix name.
Cage's first appearances predated this joke, being the Spring 2016 uploads "Snow halation (In-Game Version) - Love Live! School idol festival" and "The Pain - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater", in which his Wicker Man "NOT THE BEES" screams are sampled as generic screaming effects. Cage is used sparingly on the channel outside of references to The Legend of Cage; even compared to other memes tied to specific games such as kazoos or "Totino's". He is rarely featured in medley rips.
On December 12, 2022, a channel event themed around the mod, The Legend of Cage: Beneath the Mask Day, took place. This day was dedicated to ripping every remaining Majora's Mask track without a Nicolas Cage rip, along with other rips related to both Majora's Mask and Nicolas Cage. The event concluded with the release of the album The Legend of Cage: Beneath the Mask Official Soundtrack, containing almost every Majora's Mask rip featuring Nicolas Cage.
