The kazoo is a musical instrument which adds a buzzing sound to the player's voice. The player hums and creates air pressure, making the kazoo's membrane vibrate. The player can adjust the pitch and volume of their hums to create different sounds. It is commonly mistaken to be a blowing instrument.
The kazoo is often ridiculed online and it is used ironically on the SiIvaGunner channel.
History
Instruments similar to the kazoos have been used in Africa for hundreds of years, often for ceremonial purposes. It is believed that Alabama Vest created kazoos in the 1840s but there is no evidence to support this.
The first documented kazoo was in one of Warren Herbert Frost's patents, issued on January 9, 1883. The modern design was patented by George D. Smith on May 27, 1902.
Rips
Rips that feature the kazoo are usually covers, or being played as one of the instruments of the covered track. Most of the rips that feature the kazoo are from more action-based or drama-based tracks, breaking the expective. All mixless Crypt of the NecroDancer feature the kazoo, and in September, 2016, during the Season 1 Finale, SiIvaGunner uploaded the album Crypt of the Necrokazoo, compiling the all the kazoo NecroDancer rips. These rips are often met with a negative reception. Most of them have a very weak Like ratio, mostly getting around 200 Likes and 300 Dislikes.
On January 28, 2017, the SiIvaGunner channel celebrated National Kazoo Day in the form of an event. All the rips released that day were related to the kazoo in some way. Around the last week of January/first week of February, the channel uploaded more rips featuring the kazoo.
In The SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis
In "Episode VIII.5 ~A Fragmentary Interlude~", the reason why so many kazoo rips were being uploaded at that time was revealed; The Voice was trying to get assistance of a mysterious French kazoo player, that being the Kazoo Master. In "Timbre of a Kazoo", the Kazoo Master serves as the main antagonist. After Barkley's presumable death from getting sucked by a portal, from the same portal, Kazoo Master comes out of it, trying to eliminate both rappers in the room. Thankfully, the French fighter lost against Soulja Boy. The Master simply accepted his loss, and disappeared, having a unkown fate.
Otamatone
The Otamatone is a similar instrument featuring a synthetic device. YouTuber TheRealSullyG made the instrument more popular when he began doing Otamatone covers in February 2017. It has appeared in very few rips, but functions identically to the kazoo as a rip joke.
